July 2013 - This was our second time at this campsite and the first was brilliant but the second time was better as the park just seemed that little bit more organised. The only down side of the site was the shower cubicles in the new shower/toilet units are a bit small but once you get used to how organised you need to be this is not a problem. The best thing about this campsite are the couple who manage the site, they are the most friendly and helpful managers we have experienced and one of the reasons why we returned again this year. The reason we were there this year was to attend the IOW festival & even though this is a bit far from the festival site the managers provided loads of info regarding buses. The second reason we returned to this campsite is due to the location, it is absolutely beautiful on the west side of the island and the campsite is only a 10 minute walk to Freshwater where the locals are really friendly especially in the local pub. The walking and cycling routes are amazing and that is when you really see the England of the 50's! and long may it stay that way. Susan B
July 2013 - Lovely campsite in Freshwater just 10 minutes walk from Colwell Bay. The site is clean and peaceful, with good facilities. Bob & Gaye are very friendly and went out of their way to help with our bike route for the onward journey. Recommend walking to Yarmouth via the coastal path, and if you have one too many at the pub you can take the number 7 bus back straight to Heathfield Rd. Mr Hazbun
July 2013 - Me and my girlfriend have just got back from an idyllic long July weekend at Heathfield Farm campsite. The site was easy to find and is located in easy walking distance of Freshwater's shops (which includes a sainsburys, co-op and great local butchers), the west Wight coastline and local pubs (the campsite owners recommended the Red Lion; delicious food in a beautiful setting - we were not disappointed!) Upon our arrival we were greeted by the very friendly owners and subsequently taken to our allocated pitch which was spacious and well kept. We liked the way the pitches were well demarcated as at previous campsites we have felt as though we've been a bit on top of our neighbours! Toilets and showers were modern and always kept clean. In addition to the recommendations and advice that the owners are always ready to provide, the site has a useful tourist information hut with maps of the local area. During our stay we followed two of the "Heathfield walking routes", one taking us to The Needles and Tennyson's Monument, which we thoroughly enjoyed. Having never been to the Isle of Wight before, we were pleasantly surprised how quickly we could get to the attractions in the east of the island by car/bus, and therefore concern about this site's accessibility to other parts of the island should not be an issue. During our stay we met both families and other couples staying at the campsite; it appears to be suitable for all ages (we are both 23) and parties and we would both thoroughly recommend it to anyone contemplating a camping trip to the Isle of Wight. July 2013 - This is our second holiday at Heathfield Farm camp site and it will not be our last. We love this camp site. It is spacious (not crammed in like many), quiet, the pitches are large & relatively level. Some of the premium pitches offer a lovely sunset view across the Solent to Hurst Castle.
Bob and Gaye, the wardens, are very friendly and always on hand for advice if needed. They also keep the site in pristine condition.
The location of the site is excellent for walking. Within a few hundred metres you can join the coast path, providing access to beautiful nearby beaches (Colwell Bay) & downs, with stunning circular walks to The Needles / Tennyson Down / Freshwater Bay going south, or to Yarmouth going North. Yes, the shower cubicles are a bit small. But they're always clean, and the water is hot. We're looking forward to our next visit. Mr & Mrs Smith
June 2013 - We stayed at the campsite for just 2 nights (28 and 29th june 2013) at the weekend, we payed cash at the entry. (for more than 3 nights you can book over internet) The owners are both very friendly and have a joke ready too! It was peacefull and lovely campsite. small not to big. good washing and cleaning facilities. all the rules are clear and simple.weather was great too, which helped. close to the needles and the beach were dinosaur footsteps are an amazing find! our 2 young boys loved it. there's an enclosed football and playfield with picknick tables. very safe for kids to play and roam. Mr Biddlecombe
June 2013 - Have just spent 10 nights on this campsite. Bob and Gaye, the wardens, are extremely friendly and helpful and keep all the amenities spotless. There was always plenty of hot water. As some other campers have mentioned, the shower cubicles are a tad on the small side but we managed. Do take a torch as the field doesn't have much in the way of lighting. The pitches are really spacious and Bob keeps the grass nice and short. Also much appreciated was the 'library' and information kiosk. Most of our shopping was done in Freshwater which has a variety of local shops and supermarkets. We thoroughly enjoyed our stay and would definitely go back to this site. Mr & Mrs Brindell
June 2013 - We have just spent a lovely weekend at Heathfield Farm. Arrived and was warmly greeted, shown to our pitch and given directions to all the amenities.
The standard pitches are a very good size. There is a lovely beach (Colwell Bay) just a 15 minute walk away that has a little cafe there.
A half hour walk away, along country lanes and through the woods, following the coastal path is Fort Victoria Country Park. There you can find another little cafe and other small tourist attractions (a small Planetarium and small Aquarium), there is also some stunning views of the Solent.
The whole site is very well maintained. The shower and toilet block is kept clean, the only downside is that the shower cubicles are very small and I would have found it quite hard if I had children with me. There are only 3 showers, although it wasnt busy when we were there I could imagine it could be a wait for a shower if the site was busy.
This is in a very peaceful setting and we would definately return. Mr & Mrs Shaw
May 2013 - lovely campsite ,very quite , peaceful and very clean .We stayed a full week .a nice part of the island .Freshwater village is only 20 mins walk ,there is 3 pubs though we only went into 2 The red Lion , and the vine which we called in for a pint or two .there was a lot of people in the vine eating and the food looked o'k . All in all we had a great week ,a campsite I can recommend. Mr & Mrs Desley
May 2013 - I haven't got a bad word to say about our stay. The shower & loo block are excellent. Peaceful surroundings, seaview.
Thanks to Bob & Gaye for a great stay again at your immaculate site! We've really had a lovely time. Just brilliant! We'll definately be back. Clare, Andy & Midge
May 2013 - We had a great 5 days mountain-biking, and rediscovering the Isle of Wight - Heathfields was an ideal base. Away from the commercial, kids attractions of the island (although, these are obviously not far away), this place feels like your in the heart of the real isle of Wight. Great sized pitches, friendly yet un-invasive neighbours, well maintained showers and toilet blocks - what more do you need to get in to the outdoors. Even a little hut for tourist info, and bricks for BBQ stands. Beautiful countryside for both walkers and cyclists, with a whole range of footpaths & bridleways to choose from, very nearby - the Tennyson trail starts from Freshwater bay, and gives amazing views looking out over both coastlines of the island. So many glorious country pubs for local bitter sampling too. So, if want to escape the kids play-parks, the dogs, and all-singing-dancing chalet/cabins and just enjoy your natural surroundings, a beer, BBQ, and bed when the sun goes down, Heathfields will suit you admirably. Shhh.....don't tell everyone!! Bryony & Elliott
July 2013 - Just returned to Stoke-on-Trent after a 4 night stay at the campsite and had a great time. The site was top-notch and we will be recommending it to our friends and family. Ideal location close to the shops and the beach, the shower/toilets were kept spotlessly clean and plenty of open space to chase your little ones about in plus a great BBQ and sports field to boot. This was our first visit to the Isle of Wight and we were left withi a lasting first impression. We will certainly visit again. Thank you very much for an enjoyable stay. Paul, Andrea & Maggie
